Captain Sakunthala Wanninayake is a commissioned officer in the Sri Lanka Army. She has completed her initial studies at Holy Family Convent, Kurunegala.  She joined to General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University on 16^th September 2013 as a Lady Officer Cadet in KDU Intake 31. After completion of the basic military training at KDU and Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), She was commissioned as the the rank of Second Lieutenant on 16^th September 2015 and posted to the Sri Lanka Army Women?s Corps.

During her tour of duty, she has hold following important appointments:
