Vice Chancellor Visits Southern Campus KDU
The Vice Chancellor of KDU, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil visited the Southern Campus on 5th August 2022 and he was ceremoniously welcomed by the military and academic staff. During his visit, the Vice Chancellor inspected the ongoing construction projects and engaged in discussions regarding the current academic/administrative activities at the campus. The undergraduates also had the opportunity of meeting the Vice Chancellor and sharing their learning experience at Southern Campus. During his visit the ground breaking ceremony for a new swimming pool and two foundations stones were also ceremoniously laid for construction of two new student accommodation buildings.
Ground Breaking Ceremony for The Swimming Pool
The ground breaking for the Southern Campus swimming pool was initiated on 5th August 2022 by the Vice Chancellor, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil and Rector – Southern Campus. The 25m swimming pool is to be completed in four months as the newest addition to the recreational facilities provided to the resident students at Southern Campus. Dean FBESS, Deputy Dean – FDSS and academic and military staff were also present at the occasion.
Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for The New Students’ Accommodation
The foundation stone laying ceremony for the new female and male students’ accommodation was ceremoniously held on 5th August 2022 with the participation of the Vice Chancellor, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil. In order to cater to the growing number of students enrolling in different degree programs, Phase 1 of the accommodation complex is expected to be completed in six months, comprising of 24 rooms with modern facilities. Rector- Southern Campus, Dean FBESS, Deputy Dean – FDSS and academic and military staff were also present at the event.
Tree Planting Ceremony
As part of the initiative in promoting cultivation, 1000 mango saplings were planted in the Southern campus grounds with the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Rector – Southern Campus, Dean FBESS and academic and military personnel.
