Timely Awareness Lecture on Plastic Usage by Dr. Chamila Lokugamage

In line with the ongoing Environmental Week initiatives, a thought-provoking and timely lecture on Plastic Usage was conducted by Dr. Chamila Lokugamage of the Ayurveda Hospital, Sooriyawewa. The event took place on 03 June 2025 at the KDU Southern Campus Auditorium.

The lecture was graced by the esteemed presence of the Rector of the Southern Campus, Brigadier Enoj Herath RSP USP ndu psc, who added further significance to the occasion. Among the distinguished audience were the Senior Administrative Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Geeth Munagamage VIR, the Adjutant Major Dilan Perera SLSR, along with other Senior Officers, Officer Cadets of Intake 36 MBBS, Other Rank Instructors, administrative staff and members of the civil staff of the KDUSC.

Dr. Lokugamage delivered a comprehensive and highly engaging session, shedding light on the detrimental impacts of plastic on the environment and public health. Her ability to present complex scientific facts in a relatable and digestible manner was well appreciated by the audience.

The lecture not only enhanced awareness but also sparked thoughtful discussions on the responsible usage of plastic and sustainable alternatives. The audience remained fully attentive throughout the session, reflecting the relevance and importance of the topic in today’s context.
